The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Friday that they have signed Jackson Rowe. The 6-foot-7 forward recently played for Santa Cruz of the NBA G League where he averaged 12.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.2 steals in 30 minutes per game through 49 games. The Toronto native is no stranger to the CEBL. Rowe played the past two seasons in Ottawa where he averaged 12.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 26.8 minutes per game over 31 games for the BlackJacks. He was named to the CEBL All-Canadian team in 2023. Rowe played four seasons at CS Fullerton where he posted a career average 12.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1 block and 0.8 steals in 30.4 minutes per game over 111 games. He was named Big West Conference Freshman of the Year in 2017. He was named an All-Big West Honourable Mention honoree in 2018 and 2019. He finished his time with the Titans second all-time in career rebounds (811) and second all-time in career blocks (113) and was named a second-team All-Big West Honoree. The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Thursday that they have signed Bajan born Hason Ward. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 4.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in 12.3 minutes per game over 51 games and two seasons with the Iowa State Cyclones. Prior to transferring to Iowa in 2022, Ward played three seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University. During his sophomore year, he ranked second in the Atlantic-10 and 21 nationally in blocked shots per game. He was also named to the 2020-21 Atlantic-10 Conference All-Defensive Team. The St. Thomas native is Scarborough’s fifth player signing of the season. The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Wednesday that they have re-signed American Kyree Walker. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 12.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals in 25.8 minutes per game over 18 games for Scarborough last season. Walker, a high school phenom, decided to forego collegiate basketball and signed a training camp roster with the Washington Wizards of the NBA in 2021. He played that season for their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go, where he averaged 7.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game over 37 games. The Atlanta native most recently played for Apes of the Mongolia-MBL averaging 21.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2 steals in 19.5 minutes per game. He becomes the fourth returning player from Scarborough’s 2023 championship team; joining CEBL all-time leading scorer Cat Barber and forwards Kalif Young and Danilo Djuricic on this year’s roster. The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Monday that they have re-signed Danilo Djuricic. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 4.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 15.8 minutes per game through 8 games with the Shooting Stars last season. This is the Toronto native’s third year playing professionally. He played two seasons for Brno of the Czech Republic (2021/22 and 2022/23) and Scarborough’s first two seasons in the league posting a career average 6.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 17.5 minutes per game over 85 games. The Harvard alum averaged 5.8 points and 3.6 rebounds through 91 games over three seasons with the Crimson. He helped Harvard to two consecutive Ivy League championships and berths into the NIT during his freshman and sophomore years. The 6-foot-9 forward becomes the team’s second re-signing of the season, joining point guard Cat Barber on the Shooting Stars 2024 roster. The Toronto native averaged 8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1 block and 1.3 steals in 26 minutes per game through 24 games with the Shooting Stars last season. Young’s 11 points, 11 rebound performance assisted the Shooting Stars in defeating Niagara in last year’s CEBL semi-finals en route to their 2023 CEBL Championship. The Providence College graduate played this past season for Anwil of the Polish OBL where he averaged 6.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 blocks in 23 games. Anwil also competed in the Europe Cup where Young averaged 6.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.7 steals in 6 games. The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Wednesday that they have re-signed 6’2” point guard, Cat Barber. The 2023 All-CEBL First Team Star averaged 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.8 steals in 33.3 minutes per game for Scarborough last season. Barber finished the 2023 CEBL season as the league’s all-time leading scorer with 1108 CEBL career points. The Virginia native averages 16.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1 steal in 29.6 minutes per game over 354 professional games. He is currently playing for FC Porto of the Portugal-Liga Betclic League where he is leading his team in points (16.5) and assists (4.5) per game through 20 games. Barber averaged 17 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 33.5 minutes per game through 15 games for FC Porto in the 2023-24 Europe Cup.  The eight-year pro has played in top leagues across seven countries, including for teams in the FIBA Europe Cup and NBA G-League. Most notably, Barber signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks in December 2021 registering 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 13 minutes through 3 games in the NBA. The NC State alum ranks 17 in Wolfpack history with 1516 career points and 8 in school history with 403 assists. In his junior and final year, Barber led the ACC with 28.7 minutes per game as well as eight games of at least 30 points. He set an NC State record with 237 made free throws. He was voted ACC Player of the Week three times, 2016 First Team All-ACC by media and coaches and NABC All-District First Team. The Scarborough Shooting Stars of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Tuesday that Devan Blair has been named the second head coach in team history. Blair succeeds 2023 CEBL Champion Chris Exilus who led the Shooting Stars to the CEBL’s Championship Game in back-to-back seasons. Exilus was promoted earlier this year to Vice President and Senior Advisor. Blair is the current Head Coach of the Barbados Men’s National Team as well as the Associate Head Coach of the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks. Prior to his position with Westchester, he spent six years with the Houston Rockets organization as their Video Coordinator and Offensive Strategist from 2015-2020 while also acting as assistant coach of their G League affiliate the Rio Grand Valley Vipers from 2019-2020. During the 2021-22 season, Blair was named assistant coach of the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, affiliate of the Indiana Pacers. “I think the CEBL is a tremendous league that has grown exponentially since its inception. I’m excited to be a part of a league that the rest of the world is beginning to realize contains very high level players and amazing support throughout the country,” noted Blair on joining the CEBL. “I’m beyond excited to have the opportunity to coach the Shooting Stars. Scarborough is an elite organization with top caliber staff that have had unmatched success in their short history. I can’t wait to attack each day with my coaches and players as we aim to repeat as champions in front of the best fans in the league”. Blair is a graduate of Indiana University Bloomington where he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS), Sport Marketing and Management while acting as team manager for the women and men’s basketball teams.
