Scarborough Shooting Stars

The Scarborough Shooting Stars became the Canadian Elite Basketball League's eighth franchise on August 16, 2021. Scarborough franchise owners Nicholas “Niko” Carino, one of the founding members of OVO (October’s Very Own), and Sam Ibrahim, one of the founding members of Playground Global, could not have been more excited to join the league.

In just two seasons in the CEBL, Scarborough made back-to-back appearances in both the 2022 and 2023 championship games. After an almost story-book 21 point comeback loss in 2022, the Shooting Stars became the fastest professional sports team in GTA history to win a championship, with their 82-70 win against the Calgary Surge to become the 2023 CEBL Champions in their second season.

Scarborough's opens its 2024 season in May. The Shooting Stars home opener is June 1 against the Niagara River Lions at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, home to all Scarborough home games.
