The Scarborough Shooting Stars are a premier professional basketball franchise competing in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Founded by OVO’s Niko Carino, Sam Ibrahim, Lo Falconi and Indochino’s Drew Green SSS represents the heart and spirit of Scarborough, the team stands as a symbol of community pride, resilience, and cultural diversity.

 

Since joining the league, the Shooting Stars have quickly become one of the CEBL’s most exciting and dynamic team: culminating in a historic 2023 CEBL Championship title that solidified their place among Canada’s basketball elite. Known for their high-energy style of play, passionate fan base, and deep community connections, the Shooting Stars are dedicated to growing the game of basketball across Scarborough and beyond.

 

Both on and off the court, the organization is driven by a commitment to excellence, creativity, and impact creating unforgettable experiences for fans while inspiring the next generation of athletes and leaders.

ABOUT THE CEBL

 

A league created by Canadians for Canadians with a mission to develop Canadian players, coaches, sports executives, and referees, the CEBL boasts the highest percentage of Canadian players of any pro league in the country with 73% of its 2023 rosters being Canadian. Players bring experience from the NBA, NBA G League, top international pro leagues, the Canadian National team program, and top NCAA programs as well as U SPORTS. Fourteen players have signed NBA contracts following a CEBL season, and numerous CEBL players attend NBA G League training camps every year. The CEBL season runs from May through August.
