Shooting Stars Deliver Fourth Quarter Blow to Stingers
20-3 Run in the Fourth Quarter Seals it

The Scarborough Shooting Stars defeated the Edmonton Stingers 95-78 in Edmonton on Saturday night. The win keeps them in first place in the Eastern Conference and in the CEBL.
After the Shooting Stars first five games were all decided by one possession, they have now won three straight by double-digits. It was a close matchup for the first three quarters but with a little under seven minutes left in the game, the Shooting Stars broke a 75-75 tie by going on a 20-3 run.
It was a very well-rounded win, as even though the usual go-to guys in Myles Powell and Frank Mitchell played well, Scarborough also got great games from Javan Johnson, Kellen Tynes, Aamir Simms and Trey Thomas.
Johnson was the man who broke the tie and started the run when he hit his 26th three of the year - a top five mark in the CEBL - and powered through an and-1 layup. The team leader in minutes played, Johnson played 35:21, nine minutes more than the next closest player.
Tynes started the season off extremely well, picking up four steals in each of his first three games. The next three games he didn’t pick up a steal and was only averaging 5.6 points in those games. Last game against Niagara he picked up five steals and yesterday against Edmonton he scored 11 points and added six rebounds and three steals.
Simms and Thomas have been consistent sources of offense all year. Thomas scored 11 points today from the backup point guard role and has now only turned the ball over four times in 147 minutes played this season and is shooting 46.7% from the field. Simms, the do-it-all forward, recorded six points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Powell only played 16 minutes due to foul trouble, but he scored 17 points in those 16 minutes including some tough threes in Target Time. Mitchell had another fantastic game, scoring 15 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and a block. The league's leading rebounder is looking like the clear CEBL Six Man of the Year award favourite. He even hit a three, his first since his 2023-24 season at Canisius University.
