Scarborough Defeats Montreal in Strong Road Performance
Shooting Stars Defeat Alliance for Second Time in Three Days

The Scarborough Shooting Stars defeated the Montreal Alliance 97-84 on Friday night. It was Scarborough’s third win over Montreal this season and second in three days after defeating them 80-78 in Scarborough on Wednesday.
After scoring 90+ points in nine of their first ten games the Shooting Stars offense had been struggling without star guard Myles Powell, not topping 90+ points in four straight games and three straight without Powell. For example, in their matchup two days ago against Montreal, they had 33 first half points.
But with their MVP candidate back in the lineup and forwards Khalil Miller and Akoi Yuot playing strong, they posted 50 first half points. Powell had 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists and his presence helped the teams confidence. Sure enough, he’d finish with 19 points, nine assists and a league-leading sixth Target Score winner.
Yuot had a fantastic game, posting 22 points, four rebounds, and three steals on 87% shooting. Yuot’s 32 offensive rebounds ranks fifth in the CEBL and he’s shooting the ball at a top 20 mark in the league too (53%). It was recently announced Yuot, a graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute for Technology, had made the New York Knicks NBA Summer League roster. A well deserved honor for one of the hardest working players in the CEBL.
Scarborough native Khalil Miller had his best game of the season so far, posting 16 points and nine rebounds to go along with two steals and blocks.
The first three quarters were close before Powell broke it open at the end of the third. An and-1 layup and then a deep sidestep three (which tied the Shooting Stars franchise record for 3PM in a season with 50) gave Scarborough a 73-60 lead heading into the 4th.
