Scarborough Shooting Stars Sign CEBL Star David Muenkat

A member of the inaugural 2022 team returns to Scarborough 

The Scarborough Shooting Stars signed 6’6 Forward David Muenkat, the club announced Wednesday.


Muenkat was a member of the first ever Scarborough Shooting Stars roster in 2022 where he averaged 6 points and 3.7 rebounds on 52% shooting from the field. He returned in 2023 and posted 7.3 points, 5.4 rebounds on 46% shooting. 


Muenkat has also spent time with the Winnipeg Sea Bears in 2024 where he averaged 6.8 points and 6.4 rebounds on 35% shooting and the Brampton Honey Badgers in 2025 where he averaged 13.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists on 48% shooting for Brampton.


The 220 lb Muenkat is an athletic interior force with good shooting touch on offence. After shooting 18-63 (28%) from three in his first three seasons in the CEBL, Muenkat shot 46-94 (49%) from three last season for Brampton.


He’s a strong rebounder as well, ranking twelfth all time in CEBL rebounds (395). 


Muenkat spent two seasons at St Francis Xavier University, where he played under current Scarborough head coach Tyrell Vernon. Averaged 14.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 assists a game. 


Muenkat has spent the past three winters playing in the top two divisions in Germany. Most recently averaging 7.4 points and 5.1 rebounds on 47% shooting for Wurzburg.


He has also represented Canada at the FIBA Americup and FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.
