Shooting Stars Visit Scarborough Health Network
For every online ticket sold this season, $1 will be going to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation.

Last Wednesday, Scarborough Shooting Star players, staff and the teams mascot ENDSSSO, took a trip down the street to the Scarborough Health Network (SHN) Centenary Hospital to visit patients.
The basketball organization and health network have partnered up for the 2026 season. For every
online ticket sold this season, $1 will be donated to the Scarborough Health Network Foundation.
SHN is one of two places in all of Canada where paediatric sub-specialists will look after paediatric orthopaedic problems outside of a children's hospital. Meaning less wait times and more accessible and rapid care to children and families in the Scarborough community.
"To be able to do something that isn't really being done, we need a whole specialized set of equipment, both in the operating room and in-patient units on our wards," said Dr. Ryan Katchky of SHN. This initiative will call for added paediatric-focused physiotherapists, child life specialists, and nurses. The support from donors is a massive help towards their goals according to Katchky.
Katchky is the only paediatric orthopaedic surgeon in the Scarborough Health Network. He works with a range of patients from those suffering from broken and fractured bones to musculoskeletal issues.
"The beauty of it is that I never really know what I'm going to deal with when I'm on my way to work, but I do what I can to look after the people who need it," said Dr. Ryan Katchky.
Players such as guards Phoenyx Wyse and AJ Cummings hung out with the patients and gifted them stuffed ENDSSSO's and basketballs.
I think it's a tremendous initiative that the Shooting Stars and SHN have collaborated together. The Shooting Stars are certainly an organization that our Scarborough community is proud of," said Katchky.
